Cure your fear of being sick (emetophobia) and Thrive in Ely & Bury St Edmunds

What is Emetophobia?

Do you suffer from a fear of being sick? If so, you are not alone. But the good news is that many people suffering from emetophobia, to use the technical term, can be freed from this fear.

So what is emetophobia? It is a persistent and irrational fear of being sick (vomiting). Sufferers worry about the possibility of being sick; they worry about picking up germs; they worry that what they eat may not have been cooked properly. They always think about the worst-case scenario.

Many of them become extremely anxious and even have panic attacks when they imagine that they might be going to vomit, and they are affected by the stress it causes because they worry about it constantly. Rob Kelly talks about emetophobia

And the condition is not uncommon: emetophobia is the fifth most common phobia worldwide, with around three million sufferers in the UK alone*.

Sufferers say things like:

“I never hold onto handrails on the train because I might pick up germs.”

“I dread winter because of Norovirus, the winter sickness virus. It’s going to be a nightmare.”

People with emetophobia spend an enormous amount of time worrying about it. They find it extremely debilitating because of the impact it has on their lives.

It affects their education, careers, marriages and friendships. They may struggle at school, college or work because they have to take a lot of time off, sometimes simply because they are worried that they will pick up germs.

Some sufferers feel guilty when their own child or partner is unwell because they feel unable to look after them. In extreme cases women decide not to have children at all because of their fear of morning sickness.

I often see patients, both men and women, who suffer from this condition. Many of them have sought other kinds of help but it has not done any good. In desperation they often turn to online forums for support and guidance. But there is another option - our Thrive programme.

"Cure your Emetophobia and Thrive"

I am a licenced Thrive Programme Consultant, and I use Thrive to help people cure their emetophobia. By working through the Thrive Programme with me you can gain an in-depth understanding of the driving forces behind your fear.

A survey was carried out recently among emetophobes who had completed the Thrive Programme. There were 62 respondents, all of whom said that before they started the programme the effect which the symptoms had on their daily lives was “severe”.

After completing the programme, 55 out of the 62 rated their symptoms as having  “little or no” effect on their daily lives, with the other seven saying it had only a “moderate” impact.

If you would like to achieve the same result, and be free of your fear, give me a call.  I can help you.
